Chapter 3. Mental Wandering: Your Mind Can Take You Anywhere or Nowhere

This is very insightful if you take the time to understand the meaning of it. What I took out of this quote was that in life if you don't take the time to appreciate and really see whats around you, you really wont be able to grasp the full essence of life. And in life they are lots of magical and pure good things but without taking the time to see that you won't be able to see that and it would be harder for you to find your calling that way.

I can agree with this because many things can be changed by the way you see it. Many people fail to realize that by being negative about something can actually give a negative affect to everything else. Same goes when you positive. That is why I always try to have a positive attitude towards everything I do. When my mood is negative I tend to see things wrong and not like my day but once I change that mood everything shifts to being good. This is why its good to see things in a positive point of view because you would have a better chance of having a better life that way.

When I saw this quote, I thought to myself, I agree with this because motivation is key to a successful life. When you a motivated attitude and is always up to doing things to better yourself, that would take you further then having a attitude that makes you want to do thing but doesn't build up the courage to actually achieve that goal. Its always good to try and do new things, and although its scary its better to say you done and failed then to say you never done it at all.        

Chapter 2. Connecting the Dots

When you think about the future, do you sometimes feel 

Overwhelmed?

Clueless?

Stuck?

I feel that in everyone life they come across these feelings. I can personally say that I have come across every single one of these feelings. When I over think about the future I have a habit of getting overwhelmed because I start to think about my choices in life and how I should have had better decision because it could have been better for me in the long run. Also when I think about the future, I also become clueless because sometimes I'm not sure what i should do next in order to better myself in the future. I because frustrating because I get stuck in some kind of mental box and at times it becomes hard to get out but its important to always stay positive and work to find your true calling.

I love this quote because I feel that its true. This is basically saying that creativity can only be done by chaos, because with chaos it gives you the access to you connect the missing pieces of ones life. And that is how creativity is created. With creativity it helps to find your true calling and find a senses of yourself and that is the beauty of it all.   

Can't I take a career test that will tell me what to do?

This is interesting because I have heard so many people say something like this. As easy as that might be i feel that these kinds of testes are built not for a long term career. Only for the simple fact that it only determines the career off of your personality and its a very good chance that your personality and attitude will change as you get older. So what a test might tell you would be nice for you at this moment it might not be right for you in the later future. This is something people fail to consider when taking these kinds of testes.

Chapter 1: A Butterfly Flaps its Wings and you Find a Job.

I found this quote really interesting because of its meaning behind it. I agree with this quote because people do need chaos in your life in order to find your true calling. If your find yourself just following one certain path in life you might find yourself dealing with a path that you ultimately might hate. So with chaos you get the chance to experiment with things you might not have found yourself doing if you were following a linear path and you might find yourself interested in something that could make you happy forever.

When I first read this quote, i couldn't help but feel some type of way. I was surprised that a College Career Counselor had said that and I would have to disagree with that because and a liberal arts student myself I do have a certain idea of what i want to do in the future and i feel that many liberal arts student do have an idea but choice to go liberal as a smart way to make sure that what they pick is the right choice.

"You might be surprised to learn that in one study of university graduates almost 70 percent reported that their careers were significantly influenced by unplanned events- in other words the butterfly effect."

I was not surprised when reading this quote because just through life experience i found alot of people find their job and careers not by planing it but by things that happen unexpectedly. For example by networking or just stumbling upon a ad or something. Many graduates don't find their careers right after college as they hope but with unplanned events that goes by their day does help to land the job they need to get.

I found this link helpful because it give and simple and quick example of what a cover should look like and it explains how the layout of the cover letter should look like. what I found helpful in this web page was the fact that it also gave helpful links to tips on helping with your cover latter. Also it was great because at the end of the page it also gave a link to help to personalized a cover letter on the spot. this page could be very helpful to achieve and great cover letter and get the job that you want.

This page is extremely helpful because not only does this page help you format your cover letter, it also explains to you how your cover letter should be displayed. By display, I mean it explains the font and how the margins should look when presenting your cover letter. This is very helpful because its not only what you write on your cover letter it also how you display it as well. This page is extremely helpful for numerous of things but as for the cover letter its helpful because it give you realistic advice on making a cover letter. They don't try to explain your advice in a fancy educated way. its realistic. they go straight to the point and explain their steps in a quick and easy approach. So if your trying to find a link that explains how to do a cover letter quick and easy. "ENFJ" Myer's-Briggs personality test:

            After taking the actual Myer's Briggs test I found that I my predictions on my personally and feelings were correct. But for the actual test i found that it score me as being a person of order and a big picture kind of person. I felt that it can be taken in account that i like order because I do like order sometimes but i did feel that I was a chaotic person. But that can be arguable. As for being a big picture person, I never really thought I could tell how a person could be right from the moment i meet them. I can say I can get a vibe off of a person and see if they are and positive or negative person, but that's as far as I can get off of a person in the moment i meet them. As a result, 

           I find this test interesting but as the test placed me exactly in the career field that I want to be in which is counseling. So I am happy to here that at least in this test I fit the careers choice that I want to be in. I find this test somewhat helpful for people that are confused with the careers choice they might want to go for. I'm not saying that this kind of test should be the choice in deciding what you want to do for that rest of your life but it does help to make your choices clearer. 


          My experience while taking this test have been mixed because I found lots of things that I agreed with but there were lots of things that I was not sure about. It gave me a clearer view of what kind of person i am and that was very interesting. but overall this test was a positive experience because it was a different approach in finding out that my choice for my future careers was a great one.  

         

Thoughts on my Work Values Assessment Test

Altruism is a value associated with jobs which enable you to contribute to the welfare of others

After taking this test, I noticed that I was mostly characterized as "Altruism". After reading what this meant I find myself agreeing with this because Helping others is meaningful to me. I find that I do relate to this because I love interacting with others and helping to find out ways to help others. As the second most important value i had in this test was "Surroundings" which was also true because I find as the description said that a clean place does help to work better. I the middle part of my list of description I found that Prestige and Economic Return fell in the middle with I found that although is important isn't always the most important value in my life. As for the very bottom I got "Esthetics" which i slightly disagree because as the description said for Esthetics, it has to do with the art of life which i feel i greatly respect. So overall I do agree with the result of this time but with very minor acceptations.
